Dr Simon Barnard and Mr. Alex Levit are both Fellows of the British College of Optometrists, have attained the highest contact lens qualifications granted by the British College of Optometrists and further qualifications in contact lenses for abnormal eye conditions. They also have higher qualifications in Diabetic Shared Care. Dr Barnard is qualified in Ocular Therapeutics from Pennsylvania College of
Optometry in the USA and City University, London. He is also a Fellow of the Dr Barnard is Director of Ocular Medicine at the Institute of Optometry, London and Visiting Associate Professor, Department of Optometry & Visual Science, School of Health Sciences, Hadassah College, Jerusalem, Israel. From 1979 to 1999 Dr Barnard was on the fulltime academic staff at City University, London where is still currently a Visiting Lecturer and Director of Pediatric Clinics. He is the co-author of the textbook, Pediatric Eye Care, published by Blackwell Science and has published over 30 clinical papers or Chapters in textbooks. He has presented nearly 200 invited lectures or research papers in the Holland, Hong Kong, Israel, Italy, Norway, Portugal, Spain, the USA as well as the UK.
Mr. Levit is Principal Optometrist and contact lens specialist at Moorfields Eye Hospital (St. George's Eye Department) and the Central Middlesex hospital. He is one of only 20 professionals who achieved their Fellowship of the British College, by examination on contact lenses and children's visual problems. He is consultant to two contact lens manufacturers. Both Dr Barnard and Mr. Levit spend a considerable time each year publishing papers in professional journals and attending conferences and courses where they present papers and lectures.
